The clients purchased this mid-century modern home that needed updating...desperately... they wanted a mid-century home that was warm and welcoming. They have antiques so those pieces needed to fit into the home as well. Everything was remodeled in the home; kitchen, bathrooms, exterior, flooring, paint colors; interior and exterior, lighting, ceiling fans and chandeliers.
There were walls between the living room and dining room which were removed to give the room a more open feel.
The island in the kitchen was quite small for the size of the kitchen, so the new island was sized to 5' x 8' and there is still plenty of room to move around in the kitchen. The home is unique in that there are three areas for outdoor living as well. The goal was to be sure that the interior flowed easily to the outdoor areas. This was especially important since being in Southern California, the weather allows us to use the outdoors quite a lot. While the main paint colors of the walls throughout the house are grays, there are punches of color to create intensity and vibrance.
